The Syncopated Clock
Leroy Anderson
Leroy Anderson's "The Syncopated Clock" arranged for B♭ clarinet and piano. It portrays a clock that ought to tick regularly but keeps landing off the beat, drawn entirely in syncopation. Since syncopation is the whole point, it is excellent for learning to count an exact pulse internally while placing displaced accents on top of it.
