"The Swan" from Saint-Saëns's Carnival of the Animals, arranged for B♭ clarinet and piano. It depicts a swan gliding across water, so a seamless legato is very nearly the whole task. Above the accompaniment's rippling figures, the melody must stay serene and unwavering.
