Canzonetta (Violin Concerto, 2nd mvt)

The "Canzonetta", second movement of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D, arranged for B♭ clarinet and piano. Woodwinds open the melody in the original too, so it suits the clarinet's darker colour. Conveying its Russian melancholy calls for a wide dynamic range held under control so the sound never turns coarse.
